Deadly Jarjums

Deadly Jarjums

JobTrail has designed a cultural program for school students that is initially being delivered in West Australian schools in 2023. This fun and interactive educational program focuses on introducing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to our nations youth, and exploring concepts that have shaped our nation. It will also develop a training pathway to equip Aboriginal Islander Education Officers (AIEO) to continue to deliver the program throughout Australia.

The program is delivered over 10 weeks and covers a variety of subjects, some of which include culture, kinship, ceremony, communication and language and then culminates in cultural performance.

Throughout JobTrail’s recent work with schools and our consultancy, cultural training, and Indigenous employment and engagement, it has become apparent that there is a need for:

  1. Compulsory Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander studies to be introduced as a subject.
  2. Training pathways in schools for students to become A.I.E.O’s which would provide qualifications to deliver cultural knowledge training.

This program will be offered throughout Australia in 2024, so contact us today if you would like for your school to be involved deadlyjarjums@jobtrail.co
